Toni Jennings elected to FPL Group's board of directors

JUNO BEACH, Fla. – FPL Group, Inc. (NYSE:FPL) today announced that Toni Jennings has been elected to the company’s board of directors.  Jennings, 57, is the former Lt. Governor of Florida, the first woman to have held that office.

Jennings completed her term as Lt. Governor in early January.  Prior to serving in that role, she was a Florida state senator for 20 consecutive years after serving two terms as a member of the Florida House of Representatives. She served as Senate president for an unprecedented two consecutive terms. While dedicating more than 27 years to public service, she also successfully ran Jack Jennings & Sons, a family-owned construction business in Orlando.  After 20 years of leading the company as president, she stepped down to become Lt. Governor.

Jenning’s leadership has earned her numerous awards, including designation as “Florida Guardian of Small Business,” by the National Federation of Independent Businesses; the “Conservation Legislator of the Year” by the Florida Wildlife Association/national Wildlife Association; and the “Friend of Education Award” by the Florida School Boards Association.

“We are pleased to add Toni to our board of directors and look forward to drawing upon her business expertise and experience, as well as her vast knowledge about Florida,” said Lew Hay, chairman and chief executive officer of FPL Group.

Jennings also serves on the board of directors of Brown & Brown, Inc.
