JUNO BEACH, Fla. – FPL Group, Inc. (NYSE: FPL) today announced that Oliver D. Kingsley, Jr. has been elected to the company’s board of directors. Kingsley, 64, is president of the World Association of Nuclear Operators, elected to this position in 2005 for a two-year term.

Kingsley retired from Exelon Corporation in 2004 after serving more than two years as the company’s president and chief operating officer and president of Exelon Generation. In this role, he directed a 28,000-megawatt fleet of nuclear, fossil and hydro stations and an electricity delivery system serving more than 4.9 million customers in Illinois and Pennsylvania, as well as a natural gas retail business serving 430,000 customers in both states. Kingsley had previously served as president and chief nuclear officer of Exelon Nuclear and in a similar position at its predecessor company, Unicom, which merged with PECO Energy to form Exelon in 2000.

"We are pleased to have Oliver join our board and be able to draw upon his vast experience in the power generation industry, particularly his expertise within the area of nuclear power operations," said Lew Hay, chairman and chief executive officer of FPL Group. "Under Oliver’s leadership, Exelon Nuclear established itself as a top performer in sustained operational excellence and plant safety for widely dispersed large nuclear fleets."

During his extensive career in nuclear operations, Kingsley also held leadership and executive positions with the Tennessee Valley Authority, Middle South Utilities and the Southern Company. In addition, he served in the U.S. Navy Nuclear Submarine Force.

Kingsley earned his bachelor’s of science degree with honors in engineering physics from Auburn University. He has been a leader in many nuclear industry organizations and has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Nuclear Excellence Award from the World Association of Nuclear Operators. He also was elected to membership in the National Academy of Engineering.

Kingsley also serves on the board of directors of McDermott International, Inc., headquartered in Houston, Texas.
