NextEra Energy Resources completes the sale of Rhode Island natural gas-fired power plant to Entergy

JUNO BEACH, Fla. – NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, the competitive energy subsidiary of NextEra Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NEE), today announced that its subsidiaries have completed the sale of their ownership interest in the approximately 583-megawatt Rhode Island State Energy Center (RISEC), located in Johnston, R.I., to subsidiaries of Entergy Corporation for approximately $346 million, subject to customary closing adjustments.

RISEC recently completed work with Siemens to uprate its combustion turbines, increasing the facility’s nominal capacity to approximately 583 megawatts from 550 megawatts. A NextEra Energy Resources affiliate will operate RISEC for an initial period of one year under a service contract.

NextEra Energy Resources continues to own and operate a diverse mix of clean generating assets in 22 states and Canada, with a combined capacity of more than 16,520 megawatts.
