Legislative principles on energy and climate a big step forward, Hay says
Dec 10, 2009

JUNO BEACH, Fla. – Lew Hay, the chairman and CEO of FPL Group, issued the following statement today on the principles for energy and climate legislation introduced by Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.):

“These principles are a big step forward and will hopefully form the basis of a bipartisan agreement on energy and climate legislation. Progress in the energy debate is certainly welcome, just as delay only increases uncertainty on the part of business leaders. There is no mystery about what we need to do. We must address climate change while making sure we provide financial protection to customers. As the CEO of the nation’s largest provider of renewable energy, I can tell you exactly what will happen if we enact sensible climate policy: We will create thousands of new clean-energy jobs, strengthen the nation’s energy security, and dramatically improve our environment.”
