FPL customers claim first round of solar PV rebates
Customers can still apply for 2011 solar water-heating rebates at www.FPL.com
Jun 29, 2011

JUNO BEACH, Fla. – The application window for Florida Power & Light Company’s 2011 solar photovoltaic (PV) rebate program closed today after 310 FPL customers applied for approximately $5.6 million in rebates to reduce the cost of installing their own solar power panels at their home or business.

All customers who completed online applications prior to the funding limit being reached were notified via e-mail on a first-come, first-served basis. After these customers have their new systems installed and inspected, FPL will verify that all program qualifications and requirements have been met and then issue the applicable rebate. If any unallocated rebate funds remain after the first round of reservations is processed, FPL will notify customers via www.FPL.com/solarrebates.

As of 11 a.m. today, 2011 rebates for solar water-heating systems were still available.

The rebates are part of a pilot program approved by the Florida Public Service Commission to help reduce energy consumption and peak demand. Customers who were not able to participate in the first round of solar PV rebates may re-apply for 2012 funding as long as they have not begun to install their systems. The application period for 2012 rebates is scheduled to open in October 2011.
