FPL announces volunteer partnership
Mar 31, 2003

JUNO BEACH, Fla. - FPL Group, Inc. (NYSE:FPL) recently launched an internal website that will allow its 11,000 employees to connect with more than 40,000 volunteer opportunities where their time and talent are desperately needed. The new website was created in partnership with VolunteerMatch and the two are encouraging community organizations, in need of volunteers, to register volunteer opportunities on the public version of the site.

Non-profit community service organizations interested in registering volunteer opportunities should go to www.volunteermatch.org.

"This innovative new tool will support our existing Community Volunteer Corps at FPL and other FPL Group subsidiaries, and provide a place for employees from throughout the 24 states in which we have a presence, to find rewarding opportunities in their local communities," said John Kitchens, FPL's Manager of External Affairs.

FPL Group employees gain access to the world's largest database of volunteer opportunities through a page on their website. Employees may simply insert their zip code to receive a list of available volunteer opportunities in their area. The program also allows for employees to communicate with each other about available volunteer opportunities. "This feature can empower and motivate co-workers who have a sense of volunteer spirit and teamwork, and it creates positive company morale," said Mr. Kitchens.

"FPL employees have continually demonstrated their support of the communities where they live and work by participating in projects and activities that make a difference. This partnership will make it easier for employees and their families to get involved," said Mr. Kitchens.

VolunteerMatch is a web-based service application that has introduced more than 1,000,000 volunteers to more than 24,000 nonprofits nationwide.
