FPL Group receives top ranking among electric and gas utilities on Fortune magazine's annual list of America's Most Admired Companies

JUNO BEACH, Fla. -- FPL Group, Inc. (NYSE: FPL) today announced that the company has been ranked  #1 among electric and gas utilities on Fortune magazine’s annual list of America’s Most Admired Companies 2007.  Adding to the honor, FPL Group received the highest scores among its peers in every single one of the eight attributes on which the companies were evaluated. FPL Group ranked second among electric and gas utilities on Fortune magazine’s 2006 list of America’s Most Admired Companies.

Executives, directors and analysts in the electric and gas utility industries rated their industry peers (and awarded FPL Group top ranking) on the following attributes:

  • Use of corporate assets
  • Social responsibility
  • Quality of management
  • Financial soundness
  • Long-term investment

The 2007 list represents the 25th year in a row that Fortune has compiled its America’s Most Admired Companies ranking.  Fortune’s study is conducted annually and surveys high ranking professionals from Fortune 1,000 companies, along with industry analysts, to identify companies with the strongest reputations.  A total of 616 companies in 68 industries were surveyed for Fortune’s 2007 ranking during the fourth quarter of 2006.
