FPL Group named to list of 'World's Most Ethical Companies'

JUNO BEACH, Fla. – For the third straight year, FPL Group, Inc. (NYSE: FPL) has been named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere Magazine. According to Ethisphere, this year’s list recognizes “organizations that promote ethical business standards and practices by going beyond legal minimums, introducing innovative ideas benefiting the public and forcing their competitors to follow suit.”

“We’re extremely pleased that our passion for ethical behavior has been recognized for three years running. As the No. 1 renewable energy company from wind and solar power in North America, we take our commitment to corporate responsibility with the utmost seriousness. We believe good corporate behavior will lead to good business results, and our track record proves it,” said Lew Hay, Chairman and CEO of FPL Group.

Ethisphere’s analysis examines seven categories of companies’ activities when developing the list: corporate citizenship and responsibility; corporate governance; innovation that contributes to public well-being; industry leadership; executive leadership and tone from the top; legal, regulatory and reputation track record; and internal systems and ethics/compliance program.

Of the 99 firms named to the list this year, only four were from the U.S. energy and utility sector. FPL Group also made the list in both 2008 and 2007, one of only 44 companies worldwide to be recognized by Ethisphere three years in a row.
