BAD AXE, Mich., July 8, 2026 - NextEra Energy Resources today celebrated the start of operations at the Century Oaks Energy Center in Huron County with a ribbon-cutting event alongside Consumers Energy and community members. The project brings low-cost, reliable energy, supports local jobs and delivers long-term value for Huron County and for the state of Michigan.

The 200-megawatt (MW) battery energy storage facility is owned and operated by Century Oaks Energy Storage, LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, America’s largest energy infrastructure developer and builder.

• Century Oaks Energy Center supports grid reliability by safely storing excess energy and delivering it back to the grid when demand is highest. The facility supports greater energy integration, improves grid performance and provides a cost-effective solution to meet Michigan’s growing energy needs.
