Employee spotlight: Quinten Hilbert
Nov 18, 2019

Wind Site Manager Quinten Hilbert was always passionate about renewable energy, but joining the wind industry wasn’t on his mind when he graduated high school. He chose to dedicate himself to one of his other passions – his country.

“For six years after high school, I served as an infantryman in the U.S. Army, primarily with the 10th Mountain Division,” he explained.

Quinten was awarded a Purple Heart during his time with the Army. So, by the time he joined the NextEra Energy team in December 2015, he was already a hero.

“Quinten’s strength and courage are evident in everything he does. I’m thankful for his service and I’m proud to have him on my team,” said Chris Carmona, regional wind general manager.

Now, as a wind site leader for the Cottonwood team in Nebraska, Quinten oversees daily operations at the approximately 90-megawatt site.

“Cottonwood has been an amazing learning experience because I had the opportunity to guide the site from its transition phase to operation. Through all these stages, I’ve enjoyed being a part of this team as we work together to maintain a safe and reliable site.”

Quinten explained how the ever-constant battle with Mother Nature presents a challenge, but he stays focused on the big picture.

“We provide an important service to our neighbors, friends and families all across the state of Nebraska – we generate clean, low-cost renewable energy. I’m proud to be part of a team like ours, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to teach others about the wind industry.”

“Quinten’s contributions to the wind fleet have been impressive and his contributions to our country have been truly inspiring,” said Vice President of Wind Operations North Jonathan Bain. “Like all our service men and women, he’s made unbelievable sacrifices, and we’re lucky to have him on the Power Generation Division team.”

Quinten Hilbert is a wind site manager for NextEra Energy Resources, a NextEra Energy subsidiary.
